Garden Party Centerpiece

I look for the unusual in a table centerpiece –very rarely a simple vase filled with flowers. I like statement pieces. Pieces to start a conversation.
For this party our client (Kimpton Hotels, Pacci Restaurant and the beautiful Ruth White) wanted a Secret Garden meets Down the Rabbit Hole party setting. For the centerpiece, I decided to use my French bust (her name is Beatrice). When I placed her on a stack of books in the middle of the table, she felt naked. Clearly she needed a head piece…

What I used:
Thick Hot Pink Ribbon
Homemade Paper Flowers
4 Fresh Mushrooms
Fresh Moss
Corsage Pins

Directions:
Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go around the object/head and have 2 feet of length to hang down on either side. Pin paper flowers onto an 8″ to 10″ section in the middle of the ribbon using the corsage pins. Pin mushrooms onto the ribbon where there are holes (use two mushrooms in each spot so there won’t be all polka dotty). Tuck bits of moss into places around the flowers and mushrooms (for this look, I was going for a bit of a controlled mess, so don’t worry about some hanging down). Tie around the object/head. Place in the center of the table. For added height, I placed the bust on a stack of old gardening books.
