Kewpie dolls are weird…in a good way. I let them and a flat of the freshest raspberries inspire this quirky, creepy and uber cool dessert course. Since I’m a big fan (BIG) of moving my guests to different locations during a meal I decided to take this dessert course to new heights. It involved walking up 4 flights of steps to a most discreet location and one of the best views in Savannah. If you didn’t know it, you would swear you were at some deliciously silly soirée in Italy. But, you WOULD know better, because Italians just don’t get the Kewpie.
•Antique portraits of creepy babies and 3 bunches of fresh cut forsythia decorated the space.
•Mismatched dessert plates, vintage flatware and scraps of French fabric sat the table.
•An absurdly tall lemon cake with a Kewpie doll cake topper stole the show!
What I’m wearing and recipes later…for now just soak in the setting.
