As much as I love going to a flower market for my tabletop design, I’d much rather go to nature’s store and pick out what’s blooming. Camellias are in full bloom here in Savannah so I decided to let them inspire the table design AND the cake topper AND the setting for my little impromptu garden party. These camellias were just the right price.
I drug an old table outside and nestled it into the blooming camellia bush, then picked a few from the surrounding bushes to lay down the middle of the table for a live runner.
A single beautiful bloom was perfect to float in a vintage tea cup for a make shift cake topper. If you’re not from where camellias grow, you may not know that they are a very buggy bloom. Even after rinsing with water, I didn’t want to risk any bugs on my beautiful cake, so I floated the bloom in the tea cup!
I piled vintage china, flatware, wine glasses and torn fabric napkins on the table amongst the flowers.
For a take away gift, I dropped a few blooms in a simple ball jar with a lid painted bright pink. How stinkin’ cute is this and how great would a bunch of them grouped together be for a centerpiece?
