How To Make Brown Sugar

I can’t remember the last time I bought brown sugar…I think Clinton was in office. Every time I make it and someone is around they say “I’ve never made my own brown sugar”. This happened again today. Candace (my adorable assistant whom you’ve seen in tons of my work) and I were working on some garlic recipes for an upcoming project and I needed some brown sugar…so I made some…and she uttered the familiar words…”I’ve never made my own brown sugar”. So we stopped right there and made a little Instagram video! I hope you enjoy it and if you keep a bottle of molasses in your pantry, my guess is you’ll never run out of brown sugar again.

Recipe:
For Light Brown Sugar: In a mixing bowl add 1 tablespoon molasses to 1 cup sugar and mix with your hands until combined. Store in a lidded container in the freezer.
For Dark Brown Sugar: In a mixing bowl add 2 tablespoons molasses to 1 cup sugar and mix with your hands until combined. Store in a lidded ontainer in the freezer. Remove from freezer 15 minutes before you need to use it.
