Thanksgiving Totem Pole Cake

It started with a little video about Mark Spitz and a cocktail. And, then you asked for more! Every Sunday on Instagram (@libbiesummers) I do a fun little video that I hope will inspire you, intrigue you or just make you giggle. I hashtag them #15secondSundays #Sundayinspiredvideos and I love making them, they are a far cry from the high production value of videos I make for other people…but I kind of like these better. I hope you love watching them, and more importantly I hope they inspire you to do something fun of your own. Here’s today’s video. Timing and Cher are everything.

HOW about adding a new dessert to your Thanksgiving repertoire! (Note: most of the videos have a clever pun hidden somewhere…this one…maybe not so clever.)

How To:
Preheat oven to 350ยบ F.
Clean out your can and spray the inside with non-stick cooking spray. Cut a piece of parchment in a circle the diameter of the bottom of the can and place it in. Spray the parchment with non-stick cooking spray.
Fill the can only 1/2 full with your favorite cake batter (I used a spice cake) and place on a baking sheet. Bake until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean (timing will depend on the size of cans).

Allow to cool, run a knife around the sides of the can and remove the cake. Frost the cake from north to south (I used a pink buttercream frosting) and add a simple headdress of feathers and ribbon!

Turn cake on it’s side to slice and serve.
